Peter Greenleaf
President
Peter Greenleaf is the President of MedImmune LLC, the worldwide biologics business for AstraZeneca PLC. Since joining the company in 2006 as senior vice president, commercial operations, Peter has overseen the development of the company's global marketing and portfolio organizations, as well as managing the broader commercial, corporate development and strategy functions. He has also been accountable for MedImmune Ventures, a corporate development investment group. In addition to being a member of the MedImmune Executive Team, Peter has led the cross-functional Brand Management Team and been a member of the company's Product Development Committee.
Mr. Greenleaf joined MedImmune from Centocor, Inc., where he served as vice president of the gastroenterology franchise, responsible for sales, marketing, strategic planning and business development. He joined Centocor's cardiovascular division in 1998 and later moved into the immunology business, holding a number of positions with increasing responsibility in sales and marketing. Previously, he was employed in sales and marketing capacities with Boehringer Mannheim Corporation and US Healthcare, Inc.
Mr. Greenleaf holds a bachelor of science degree from Western Connecticut State University, and a master's degree in business administration from St. Joseph's University.

Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate
Compliance Officer
Mr. Bill Bertrand was promoted to executive vice president, general counsel and
corporate compliance officer at MedImmune in May 2008. In this role, he
oversees legal affairs, public affairs (including government affairs) and
regulatory affairs for the company.
Mr. Bertrand was appointed the first general counsel of MedImmune in September
2003 after joining in 2001 as vice president, legal affairs. Mr. Bertrand is
also the company's corporate secretary. Under his leadership, MedImmune's legal
affairs department has grown from three members with no full-time lawyers to
more than 30 employees, including 15 full-time lawyers who cover intellectual
property, contracting, compliance, litigation, and all other legal matters. In
March 2006, Mr. Bertrand assumed responsibility for MedImmune's government
affairs and public policy functions. In September 2007, his role expanded to
oversee MedImmune's public affairs functions, including public relations,
community relations and internal communications.
Prior to joining MedImmune, Mr. Bertrand served in various legal positions at
Pharmacia Corporation from 1997 to 2001, including litigation counsel, senior
corporate counsel and associate general counsel. He had also been associate
general counsel for a life insurance company; was a partner at Dickinson,
Wright, Moon, Van Dusen & Freeman of Lansing, MI; and taught courses at
various institutions, including Seton Hall University School of Law and Johns
Hopkins University. Mr. Bertrand currently teaches a biotechnology strategy
course at Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Bertrand holds a bachelor of science degree in biology from Wayne State
University and a juris doctorate (cum laude) from University of
Wisconsin-Madison. He is a member of the board of directors of BrainCells, Inc.
Bahija Jallal, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President, Research
& Development
Dr. Bahija Jallal has been appointed senior vice president, research & development with oversight for research and development activities based at MedImmune's Gaithersburg and Cambridge, UK sites. Dr. Jallal joined MedImmune as vice president, translational sciences, in March 2006 and in 2007 her responsibilities were expanded when she was appointed head, preclinical oncology.
Prior to joining MedImmune, Dr. Jallal worked with Chiron Corporation where she served as vice president, drug assessment and development, and successfully established the company's translational medicine group. Prior to Chiron, she worked at Sugen, Inc. where she held positions of increasing responsibility leading to senior director, research.
Dr. Jallal received a master's degree in biology from the Universite de Paris VII in France, and her doctorate in physiology from the University of Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris. She conducted her postdoctoral research at the Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany.
Bernardus N.M. Machielse, Drs
Executive Vice President, Operations
Drs. Ben Machielse was appointed executive vice president, operations in
November 2006. In this role, he is responsible for the company's manufacturing,
supply chain, quality, and engineering and facilities functions.
Since joining MedImmune in May 1999, Drs. Machielse has led the growth of the
quality department from 80 to more than 300 people, including the incorporation
of the quality-related activities from the U.S. Bioscience and Aviron
acquisitions. He was named senior vice president, quality, in September 2003,
then promoted to senior vice president, operations in January 2005, charged
with overseeing all manufacturing and supply chain operations in addition to
the company's quality operations.
Prior to joining MedImmune, Drs. Machielse was vice president of quality
control and quality assurance for Xoma Corporation of Berkeley, CA. He also
spent several years in various manufacturing and quality positions at Centocor
BV of the Netherlands.
Drs. Machielse holds a bachelor of science degree in medical biology and a
master of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Utrecht, the
Netherlands.
Alexander A. Zukiwski, MD
Executive Vice President, Clinical Research & Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Alexander Zukiwski serves as executive vice president, clinical research
and chief medical officer. He is responsible for oversight of clinical
development strategy, clinical trial execution and pharmacovigilance for
MedImmune's drug candidates and marketed products. He joined MedImmune in
November 2007 as senior vice president, clinical research.
Previously, Dr. Zukiwski held several roles of increasing responsibility in
support of Johnson & Johnson's (J&J) medical affairs and clinical
development functions at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research &
Development, LLC (J&JPRD); Centocor R&D; and Ortho Biotech. Before
joining J&J, Dr. Zukiwski served in clinical oncology positions at
pharmaceutical companies such as Hoffmann-LaRoche, Glaxo Wellcome and
Rhone-Poulenc Rorer.
Dr. Zukiwski holds degrees in pharmacy and medicine from the University of
Alberta and the University of Calgary. He conducted his post-graduate training
at St. Thomas Hospital Medical Center in Akron, Ohio, and the University of
Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Max Donley
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
As senior vice president, human resources (HR), Mr. Max Donley is responsible
for providing business-integrated leadership and delivering professional tools,
programs, and services to optimize MedImmune's human capital investments
worldwide. Mr. Donley works to build and maintain HR business partnerships
across the entire organization to further organizational strategic objectives.
He joined MedImmune as senior manager, human resources in 2000 and has since
held several HR roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining MedImmune,
Mr. Donley was responsible for field HR and development for Bed Bath &
Beyond, where he enjoyed a successful seven-year career building a scalable
international HR infrastructure.
He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Michigan in Ann
Arbor and a master of business administration from George Mason University. Mr.
Donley is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources through the HR
Certification Institute at the Society for Human Resources Management.
Tim Pearson
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Tim Pearson was promoted to chief financial officer in August 2007 and to
senior vice president in September 2008. He is a member of the MedImmune
Executive Team (MET) with functional responsibility for finance and information technology.
Mr. Pearson joined MedImmune in 1998 and prior to this promotion to CFO, he was vice president,
finance and treasurer with responsibility for treasury, corporate finance, tax, risk management,
Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal audit and equity plan administration. From 2000 to 2004,
he also held the title of corporate secretary. During his tenure at MedImmune,
Mr. Pearson has raised over $1.6 billion in debt, been a key leader in three
M&A transactions and implemented many systems and processes to accommodate new accounting regulations and improve controls. Further, he is a founding officer and investment committee member of MedImmune Ventures.
Prior to MedImmune, Mr. Pearson worked for Integrated Health Services,
Inc., most recently as assistant treasurer; at CIGNA Insurance as treasury
manager; and at First National Bank of Maryland (now M&T Bank) as a commercial
lending officer. Mr. Pearson holds a bachelors of science degree in business
administration from the University of Delaware, a bachelors of science degree
in accounting from the University of Maryland and an masters of science
degree in finance from Loyola College. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
